I love making these colourful enamelled pendants, the way the colours mix and swirl is quite addictive and the beautiful marbled effect at the end is so satisfying. You can make these with any age group and if you throw in a selection of beautiful beads and ribbon they can keep kids entertained for an hour or so. I took my kit along to a 9 year old's birthday party recently and the kids loved it, crafting parties are so chilled and engaged, they make for a really good event. Some of the lads I worked with used dark purples and blacks and made galaxy pendants or magical talismans. You can use these as necklaces or key rings.

To make your pendants you need washers of different sizes, these are available in any hardware shop. The beautiful colours come from nail varnishes, try to get quite new ones as the old ones can be a bit sticky and don't blend so well. I laid down a thick base colour over the washer and then added other shades and tones, swirling them with a toothpick. It's a good idea to work on a paper plate so you can be messy with the varnish and you dont have to touch the pendant until it's totally dry. After half an hour or so you can string the pendant on a ribbon or thread, add beads and wear it home!
